Hey, guys! We’re right in the middle of registration for our event and it’s been determined to enhance our current “Event Expresso” dynamic by adding the “Multiple Attendee Registration” feature. I’m new enough where I want be both careful and wise, so I want to ask some questions. When I go to “Pricing Plans,” I’m taken to a page that looks as though I’m getting ready to buy another license. That doesn’t seem right, since I’m already using Event Expresso. Secondly, I can’t tell if this is a brand new version of “Event Expresso” or it’s just a new feature – perhaps a plugin? Thing is, I can’t afford to make a mistake and be offline for any length of time. So, what am I looking at, what do I need to do to install this new feature? |
Hi David, Our plugin is Event Espresso, so can you double check the name of the plugin please? You can do this within Dashboard -> Plugins. Look in the list for Event Espresso, whilst there also check the full version number and post that here please.
Licenses are valid for 1 year and give you access to support and upgrades during that time. I had a look over your account and can see you last post was over 1 year ago (it also shows you are using Event Espresso 3 but I would still like to confirm that with the above) If you currently do not have a license you would need to purchase a new one here: EE4 = https://eventespresso.com/pricing/?ee_ver=ee4 EE3 = https://eventespresso.com/pricing/?ee_ver=ee3
We have Event Espresso 3 and Event Espresso 4. EE4 is not just a simple update, but a completely new system built from the ground up. As you are currently in the middle of taking registration I recommend you do not update to EE4 on the live site just yet. However you can update to the latest version of EE3 and install the Multi Event Registration Add-on (MER) and allow for multiple events to be registered onto.
Generally when activating MER you should have no problems at all. It doesn’t make changes to the database but just adds a new feature, making it relatively simple plugin to install and use. However, we recommend using a development site to preform updates or adding new features so that if any errors do come up, they can be worked through away from the public view and without causing disruption to your live site. A development site can be a local copy of your site or a copy of the site installed on a sub-domain on the same server. |
