I am looking for an explanation of how to properly use the Multiple Event Registration plugin, and particularly the entry of Custom Questions on Events. I have run out of time trying to search for an answer. My main question: as I’m using MER, when setting up an event, do I always have to specify “Questions for Additional Registrants”? When should I include the “Personal Information” group? My issue is that we have at least two kinds of events: one where parents may register multiple children for summer camps, and the other where people register themselves for one or more services, but only ever one of each. All of these different events might have quite different registration questions. I had assumed in the past that if someone is only registering one person at a time for a particular event, that the “Additional Registrants” section would be irrelevant, but I found that if one person registers for two different events in one transaction, that the questions for the 2nd event seem to be ignored. I haven’t actually tested what happens when registering, but we have a bunch of registration records in our system that are missing most custom fields, because they were registered in a multiple-event transaction. If I create a CSV export of registrants for one of these events, I get several registrants with a bunch of blank fields, including required fields. Would the “Max. # of tickets/order” or “Display Ticket Selector” options have any effect at all on this? Related to all this, I also have questions about how best to manage parent/child relationships for our summer camp registration. I’m not convinced that the way I’ve been handling this is the best. This is not an urgent question, but I figured I should mention it. Is there a document out there that explains all this, that I haven’t been able to find? I’d be happy to discuss in more detail via Email if needed. Thanks, |
Hi there,
Under normal circumstances, no you do not, however, with MER its a little more complicated. Event Espresso 4 uses the settings for the ‘first’ event you add to the cart (technically you add tickets to the cart, so its the event linked to the first ticket you add, but I’m sure you get the idea) meaning if the first event the users selects is set not to request additional registrant information then the checkout page will only request the questions set on the primary registrant for that first event.
Whenever your ‘additional registrant’ is a separate attendee. If you don’t request the Personal Information question group on additional registrants then EE links each ticket (every ticket in EE is a separate registration) to the ‘Primary Registrant’, meaning if you select 3 tickets for a single person you only need Personal Info once. But if you are selecting 3 tickets for 3 different registrants/attendees then you should select Personal info on additional registrants.
It sounds like MEr not be the best choice for your set up, if you have events with very different question setups then using MER to register onto both and try and collect all of the relevant information isn’t going to be straightforward.
No.
I can take a look at your event set up if you have an active event I can view? OR create a password protected event (to prevent users registering) and post a link here with the password (you can set your reply to private if preferred). |
