Hello,
I have been trying to get category name to display in event_list_display.php page but am not able to find any function to do so.
Can you help its kinda urgent!

Hi,
You can use the [CATEGORY_NAME] shortcode. https://eventespresso.com/wiki/shortcodes-template-variables/#event-category
Manually – add [CATEGORY_NAME event_id=1] to each event, changing the event_id number to the correct event number.
Automatically (requires some coding knowledge) – add the following to your event_list_display.php template
echo do_shortcode('[CATEGORY_NAME event_id=' . $event_id . ']');
