We use the QR code functionality built in to Event Espresso, to check people in at events. I see that on March 14, 2019 that Google Image Charts has been turned off.

Here is an example URL/API call (no longer works) http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=3D=qr&chs=3D200x200&chl=3D48279-30-1-382b

Is there guidance for Event Espresso users that need bar code/qr code functionality? Perhaps a new solution has been integrated into a recent EE update?

For context and reference, I see other API based QR code engines in this thread: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/google-chart-api/rZtHTyYgyXI

Hi Matt,

The tickets add-on for EE4 uses bundled JavaScript libraries to generate the QR & bar codes.

That said, as far as I can tell, you can still use the Chart API even though it’s been deprecated for some time. In this case the URL you tried needs a few adjustments.
e.g.
http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=qr&chs=200×200&chl=3D48279-30-1-382b
