How to follow abandonment process

The plugin allows me and the site owner to receive notifications whenever a user (registered / unregistered) has abandoned the purchase process.

How can one setup the exact stage in the purchase process, from which he would like to receive notifications? Is it done with the add-ons feature or another feature in the plugin?
