Hello, I am having trouble understanding the functionality of the ‘Auto Promote Registrants’. My configuration: So when the event is out of places I’m getting the message that the user can attent the waiting list. The user will attent the waiting list and receives an email that ‘you’ve been added to the wait list’. So far so good. Now the process after this is somehow of a puzzle for me. I removed some of the original attendees to open up some spots. Because I have selected Auto Promote Registrants (YES) I would he expected that the following email would be sent -> email_waitlist_can_register_content.template.php. But nothing happens. Then when I go to the event in WP-Admin I’m getting the following message: The registration status for “XXX” (ID:20) has been successfully updated to “Approved”. They were previously on the Wait List for “Wachtlijst test-1-2-3”. Shouldn’t happen this automatically? If I change the Default Registration Status to ‘Pending Payment’ I can APPROVE an user subscribed to the Waiting list. He will receive the email from email_waitlist_can_register_content.template.php. Why is this also not sent out automatically? Is this somehow related to WP-Cron? Could you please explain the expected functionality for this. How does Auto Promote Registrants work? August, |
Hi August, They’re still working out some bugs with this particular feature of the Waitlist add-on so this may change before it’s released. If the Default Registration status for the event is Not approved, then when the registration is auto-promoted from the Wait list their registration status will get auto promoted to “Not Approved”. I don’t believe the current beta sends an email when a wait list registration is auto-promoted to Not Approved. |

Hey Josh, Thanks for letting me know; does auto-promote mean WITHOUT doing any manual action an attendee will be promoted to ‘Not Approved’ (for any future releases of the plugin as well?) Thanks! August, |
Hi August, Some type of manual action would have to happen for the event to have more available spaces which in turn would allow for auto-promoting wait list registrations. These include manually raising the registration limit and/or canceling other registration for that event. |

Hi Josh, Thanks – so normally the auto-promoting event gets triggered (automatically) when for example another attendee is being cancelled? For in the pre-release this is not the case. I’m just curious if this is functionality to be available in future releases as well. August, |
Hi August, They’re working on adding this. The challenge is running a sold out status check on every request will slow your site down, so they’re looking at ways to avoid doing that. |
