Hi,

For some reason, I’m having trouble setting up recurring events. I’ve currently got 3500+ events set up through the recurring events manager. Here’s the deal:

Gym Classes

Monday – Thursday = 16 classes (actually 8 class times, 2 types of class members at the same time, thus 16 classes)
Friday 12 classes
Saturday 2 classes

We would like for our members to be able to register on Sunday night for the week (Monday-Saturday)

How would we go about doing this?

http://www.cfw-s.com for reference. The site is live, but we aren’t showing it to members yet.

The pages are also taking F O R E V E R to load. Can someone help with that?

Thanks

Hi David,

First off, the load time. Yes your site takes a long time to load as it has the calendar page as the home page and it is obtaining 3500+ events from the database which is a lot of information.

We are looking into ways to reduce that load (probably by only loading X number of events at a time) but currently the only resolution is to either reduce the number of events on system (as in dont have events running until the end of the year but do them month by month) or change how you display the events (eg break them down into categories and use the multiple calendars or lists or tables to only show one category at a time).

I thought that might be the answer. Once the event date has come and gone, will the application still load them or do I need to delete the events? Just thinking about long term speed (we’ll have 3500 events by year end…

Is there some reason why I’m not getting some of my event to be “OPEN”? I set them up as recurring events, NO, set the first date as 2/25, end first date 2/25, last date as 12/31 (changing this), first event date 2/25, first event end date same day (is this wrong), Event is weekly, M, T, W, Th, F. I’d like for the M, T, W, Th, F events to be opened on Sunday night, not just the Monday classes. How do I make that happen?

I assume that if I change the recurring events end date from 12/31 to 3/31, it will delete most of the events that are already created, causing the slowness.

What did you set the registration open / close dates to be?

Yes, updating the recurrence formula will delete the extra events, if you choose the “update all events in this series” option.
