First, thanks so much for the voucher import script and csv template. Very helpful.

Can anyone out there please change Groupon to Voucher throughout this entire plugin. I know that it’s not “rocket-surgery” it just takes someone sitting down and dedicating time… which many of us have little of most of the time.

We use different vendors (Groupon, Living Social, Save City, Yelp) and would like this plugin to be more generic too. Just in the last year and a half we’ve done probably 1,500+ vouchers.

Thanks again for the template to help import bulk voucher numbers.

Hello Guy,

We have actually discussed making that change. We know it can get confusing. At this time, I don’t know when the change will take place.

We appreciate your feedback.

Thanks for the reply Jonathan. Yes, reading through the forum threads…looks like it’s has been stalled at “being discussed” for quit a while now.

I took the time myself this morning and changed the “text” values in the PHP files that are visible to the user from GROUPON to VOUCHER… that helps. However, I can not fully test if the everything with groupon has changed to “voucher” since I’m getting “garb-ally-goop” as a registration follow-up page now…

This happened early on in the initial implementation of Espresso Event… with the confirmation page… but I can not find that email with the correction to the code…

If you go to our event calendar (Wine & Cheese Jan 3rd 2013)… 1.) it does not “require” a voucher number and 2.) it goes to the confirmation page (I think) that cannot be read. Format garb-ally-goop.

If anyone can help me with why the formatting is off, I would be thankful.

…so I guess my previous fix for the confirmation page was over written… I can not find the email from support telling me how to fix it…

Hi Guy,

1) No the Voucher system does not have an option to require it as it was designed to be for vouchers/coupons which users may or may not have.

2) In your themes style.css line 79 is a class called .grid, removing the “position:fixed” will resolve the styling issues on that page. I cannot say if removing it will cause issues elsewhere though so you will need to check.

Thx for the input. We’re using the voucher feature with success. However, when we export our daily attendance data, the voucher numbers are not included with it. Is there a simple fix to allow vouchers to be included in the export? Thx in advance.

OK… so from the documentation … “The redeemed codes will also display in the exported attendee reports in the “Coupon Code” column.”

This is not working for me. I imported bulk voucher codes. The registration process accepts them (we’re seeing a $0 total)… but my export to XLS does not show that information under “coupon code” field/column.

We’re right in the middle of 650 voucher redemptions and kinda need to have this exported with the XLS sheet.

Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

Hi Guy, where is the voucher import script you are referring to? I’ve been doing it manually and although I’ve gotten quite good at it it still requires too much thought for a business owner doing everything your own.

I too changed my files to say Voucher instead of Groupon and it works well. I would be better for Event Espresso to just program it in as I use Living Social way more than Groupon.

The problem we have been having for a long time is that around half of our attendees will put their Voucher code in the “Promo code” box, not sure why, Seattle is one of the most literate cities in the country, so what we did was turn off the promo code box and just enter hundreds of promo codes into the database so that the voucher box is also the promo code box. Much better solution.

You can alter the code to display ‘Groupon’, ‘Living Social’ etc based on the category of the event fairly easily.

I’ve added 2 categories (Groupon, LivingSocial) to EE, if in category Groupon, it will display ‘Do you have a Groupon Voucher?’ if category LivingSocial ‘Do you have a Living Social Voucher?’, Select both of the categories ‘Do you have a Groupon or Living Social voucher?’

It is another Database call to get the category info tho (meaning a little more load on the server)

Also edited so that a Social voucher removes the full price for all attendees rather than just 1 ticket so can use the same event for Groupon as normal.

Havn’t looked at v1.5.3 of the groupon plugin yet as running a Groupon promo currently and leaving EE at the current version untill that finishes.

The quickest way to import is just exporting both the voucher codes and names to a csv file and adding it through phpmyadmin isn’t it?

Hi,

With the new version of Groupon Add on it has been renamed to the Social Coupons add on and will show “Enter Voucher code:” by default on the front end.

Regarding the problem of the voucher codes not showing in the spreadsheet. These will show when a user claims the voucher when registering for an event.

I cannot see what version of EE you are running but this is definitely working with 3.1.27.P and 3.1.28.2.P

Currently at 3.1.28.2.P… just upgraded to the “new” Groupon/Social Voucher Integration v1.5.2…

Does not look like Voucher are working properly…

Still the Coupon Codes are not showing in XLS export. I am entering the Social Voucher number on the registration page. However, if I manual update coupon code from the “View/Edit Payment” view, that number/value will then show up when I do another xls export.

I’m using Feb 3rd as a test date…
http://vineyardsatsouthpoint.com/event-calendar/registration/?ee=181

You can use these Voucher Codes to test it…1000104471302, 1000104411752, 1000104411750

This is an Used Voucher Code to test it… 1000104172662

You can use any number to see an invalid reply/confirmation.

I have 450 more of these to register and I’m getting customer complaints. We’re doing it manually (updating) but running interference with all of the emails and upset customers is very tiring and labor intensive.

Thanks for the help.
Guy

Hi I logged in and checked the add on, it seems fine

I registered for an event using: 1000103913026, the first one on the list of codes in the dashboard (so sorry if I should not have used that one).

It worked fine and was marked used.

“This is an Used Voucher Code to test it… 1000104172662”

I used that one as well, and it correctly told me that is cannot be used, as it has already been used.

The Social Coupons/Groupon coupon codes are single use only.

I then registered again using 1000104411752 (one of the above codes) and that worked fine as well, allowing me to register and it correctly marked it as used.

I exported the single event attendee list and the full attendee list. The voucher codes were listed under the Coupon Code column. The only issue I noticed is that MS Excel incorrectly formated the results showing this code 1000104411752 like this 1.0001E+12, but that was easily remedied by changing the column format to number with no trailing .00. I did not manually amend any attendee.

I noticed you had entered a few codes such as 00262001b but this wasnt found in the Social Coupon/Groupon code list.
