Hi,

The auto emails that get sent out after a user registers is using an old company name and email address. We have updated in the general settings to the new ones, but when new users register on the event, or we click the resend registration email button, it still comes through as the old details. Any idea’s on how to get it to update please?

Many thanks

Len

Hi Len,

Event Espresso uses the setting within Event Espresso -> General Settings. So just confirm when you say you updated ‘General Settings’ are you referring to Dashboard -> Event Espresso -> General Settings or Dahsboard -> Settings -> General?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your reply.

I can confirm that the settings changed are the ones within event espresso – Dashboard -> Event Espresso -> General Settings.

I can also confirm that the settings in Dashboard -> Settings -> General , also have the same details in as the event espresso settings.

So even it took them from either place, they should be correct.

It appears it is not pulling in the settings from this location.

Hmm, so you use any SMTP Plugins?

Or a transaction emails service such as Mandill or PostMark?

If so if you go to Dashboard -> Plugins you should see either an SMTP plugin or wpMandill.

Do not deactivate them, I’m just trying to narrow this down so we can find what is changing the address.

Hi,

There is a plugin called WP SMTP in the plugins list, if that’s any use?

Yes it is and that exactly whats causing the problem 🙂

Go to Settings -> WP SMTP.

There you will find the settings used for your outgoing emails.

WP SMTP overriders any settings the emaisl are using just before they are sent, which is why the EE settings are being ignored (they are not actually ignored but replaced within the email after EE has set them)

I would recommend using a service such as Mandill (its free up to 12k emails per month) and basically allows you to do the same as WP SMTP only providing much more control/reporting of your emails.

We have more information available here:

Hi Tony,

That’s great. Thanks.

Do I actually need to use WP SMTP? I’m not sure why it’s in there (we didn’t build the site). If I de-activate it will the emails just go through the server as normal?

Normally when people use WP SMTP its because they are having issues with their webhosts mail server.

That plugin basically sends all of your emails through the email account (and so that accounts server) set within the settings there.

You can try disabling the plugin and see if emails are still sent, your site will then be using your hosts mail server again although personally I would still recommend the services above, they are much more reliable than both your webhosts mail server (who offer email as an extra for convenience) or the SMTP plugins.
