I’m using the MER add on and have a free Event that after adding to cart and filling out the registration information just takes you to a thank you page instead of the overview page like a paid event. I’d be ok with this except the button says confirm and go to payment page. This could be potentially confusing for users.

Hi,
That is the standard process, as there is no payment to make.
If you wanted you could use the translation files and translate the button (change its wording) to make it easier on your user base.
