Hi,

I’ve been looking around, but still can’t figure this out, so figured I’d post here.

We are hosting a free event and using your plugin to have people register. Everything is working fine except emails for this event. I want to have a confirmation email to go out once they submit their registrations, but I can’t figure out which template to use to make it go out at that exact point. I have it set to be automatically approved since it’s a free event.

Thank you,
David

Hi David,

Emails are handled by the local email server. If you try a sample registration, does the email arrive to the spam or junk mail folder?

If so, please try a transactional email service like Postmark app, Mailgun, Sendgrid, or Mandrill:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/

They will take over sending emails for your entire WordPress site and some provides like Postmark App offer an initial 25,000 emails for free.

Emails work fine. When I send the test email, it comes through just fine. What I can’t figure out is what template to use so that a confirmation goes out to the person who registered showing them all the information they input into the form.

To give some more details. Your documentation says “For example, the registration details email that goes out is from the Registration Approved message type.”, but I don’t show that message type and it is activated in the settings.

Is it because I have the event set to be automatically approved? How can I work around this?

I have it set to be automatically approved since it’s a free event.

Free tickets will automatically be set to Approved with a setting of Pending Payment too, it won’t make much difference for you here but just want to mention it.

The message template that is used is the Registration Approved template.

To edit that template you can go to Event Espresso -> Messages.

Find the ‘Registration Approved’ message template and click to edit the Registrant context to edit it.

You could also create a custom message for this specific event if you prefer?

I just ran a test registration under my name and did receive the email so edit that template should work fine.

Thank you Tony. I actually went to the settings under ‘Messages’ and deactivated ‘Registration Approved’ and then reactivated it. I went back to the default messages and it finally showed up there so I’m now going to edit it for the event. Thanks again!
