Featured Images shown in Events List link to main event registration, even when there is an alternate registration page set. (Title, and Register button work).

Hi Michael,

Can you explain how that’s an error, should it not link to the main registration for the event? Does what you’re describing also happen on the testdrive site?

Sorry if I wasn’t clear — This is for an event that has an “Alternate Registration Page.” We use this feature when listing an event that uses a different system for it’s registration. Clicking on the Title, or the Register button brings you to the URL entered as the “Alternate Registration Page.” However, clicking the featured image still brings you to the registration page created by the event, when it should be the Alternate Registration Page URL.

I would like to avoid any situation where an end user can accidentally register on EE for an event that should be handled by a different system. If this happens, the registered user will not be accounted for by the other system.

I tried it on the testdrive site, and it does the same.

Technically this isn’t an error, because someone may wish to display more information about the event there, along with a link to register. There are usually other ways to get to that URL, so your best way to avoid the situation where someone accidentally registers on EE when they shouldn’t is by setting Display Registration Form to No.

Thanks, Josh

It definitely makes sense to shut down the Registration form. I’m also realizing I may have sounded harsh with my original comment–in calling this an “error”. Just trying to provide helpful feedback, and no way meant this as a complaint! This comment originally came from an end user saying that it is a little confusing when you have the Alt. page set, that the title and register button change to the Alt URL, but the image does not. My solution will be to shut down the Reg. Form and also provide the Alt Page URL in the description– so that if a visitor somehow get’s there (by clicking the image or any other means), they will still be able to get to the correct place to register. (we don’t use this all that often, and generally have visitors register through EE normally). Thanks for your help! Looking forward to EE4.
