As a followon to some previous discussions, it was determined that if you have several items in a cart, a coupon will apply the discount to ALL the tickets in the cart and a vouncher will apply tha 100% to all items in a cart.
My scenario is where an indivual has a vouncher for a free admission for himself and want to regiter himself and others together while using the voucher for his ticket alone. It appears that cannot be done.
Can this be accomplished behind the scenes by going into the administrative interface and marking a single ticket as having used a Groupon and then having that Groupon become expired? (person would initially buy as a $0.00 cost ticket (Pay at door, for example), and at the door, modify the ticket to full price and apply the groupon so bookkeeping is correct?
That is possible but will require you to manually make the changes.
If you are using Groupon or Living Social, then this could mean applying those changes to many records so the numbers match up.
Another idea that came to mind:
If this Groupon will be used for a specific event, then you can use CSS to hide the event from the event list and other pages.
Then you could provide a specific link to the single event page in the Groupon redemption instructions and also add in the event description that no other events can be used for the Groupon.
