I’m asking a question that was previously asked, but the answer did not solve my issue (here is the original thread https://eventespresso.com/topic/ee4-connect-with-this-event/). (We are using EE4) Inside of the email that registrants receive upon successful registration there are two sets of social media buttons – one that links to our social stuff, set in the organization settings – and the other that is in the section called “Connect with this event”. We can’t find the area that changes these links. We tried adding the facebook and twitter urls to the user’s information for the author of the event, but that didn’t seem to do anything. We’re just wondering what field these links are controlled by. I can’t seem to find any information in the documentation or in the forums. |
Hi Scott, These URLs are set in Event Espresso –> General Settings –> Your Organization. They are then use in various message types such as the Registration approved message type. For example, if those were setup and a registrant clicked on the Facebook link, then they would be brought to your Facebook page. If you are wanting to set this per event, then you would need to first create a custom message type for that event. Then you would need to edit the social media links within that specific message type and add your updated social media links. Then this specific event would use your custom links and all other events would use the links set in Event Espresso –> General Settings –> Your Organization. Let us know if this helps! — |

We already have the URLs set under Event Espresso –> General Settings –> Your Organization, and this part works. The part in question is in the default template there is a section that looks like this:
The [EVENT_FACEBOOK_URL] shortcode grabs a url that points to http://t.signauxdix.com/e1t/c/5/f18dQhb0S7lC8dDMPbW2n0x6l2B9nMJW7t5XX43LQ9-2W2BgLSR2B8dFvW8rldLn56dQQdf898krY02?t=&si=4623829472116736&pi=8fe7e14d-fbdd-481a-9282-3d871adebfbf and we cannot find the field where this data can be changed. [EVENT_FACEBOOK_URL] is listed as a shortcode, and has a value that cannot be changed. This seems to be the same for the [EVENT_TWITTER_URL]. I presume that these fields were meant to grab the facebook and twitter urls for the specific event from somewhere, but where these values come from remains to be found. |
Hi Scott, I now understand the issue. These shortcodes (http://cl.ly/image/2f1w471g2c1P) aren’t quite ready yet: [EVENT_FACEBOOK_URL] Please substitute these in: [CO_FACEBOOK_URL] I’ve created a bug report for this issue so the development team can review this issue. — |

Hi, I’ve finished up testing and a fix will be available in the next release of Event Espresso 4. Here is how they will work: 1) A custom field (e.g. event_facebook, event_twitter) can be set through the event editor along with a key (e.g. facebook.com/example, twitter.com/example). 2) If no fields are set through the event editor, then the fall back option would be to use what is set in the Facebook or Twitter fields in your organization page of Event Espresso. Thanks — |
