Today I notice that when someone signs up and pays for a course on our website, the purchaser and I no longer get confirmation emails about the sign-up. When i go to the vent overview, the paid attendee is listed as it should be, (but no conf. emails going out). Tried re-sending “Registration Details”, but it doesn’t re-send them. I am running Event Espresso Version 3.1.36.4.P on WordPress. Installed Espresso premium last month, tested it and it worked fine until now. Last month and early this month the sign-ups were successful and emails were auto sent to everyone, but no longer. Not using themes or managers. Help!

Hi David,

If no changes were made through the WordPress admin then your web host may have made some recent changes to the server.

Do you know if WordPress is sending out regular notifications such as password resets and new user emails?

Could you install the following email audit plugin:

http://wordpress.org/plugins/email-log/

Then please try resending a registration details email through the Attendee reports screen (http://cl.ly/image/0e3D1C3Y091S) and then check the email log for the plugin above.

Is anything recorded?

I don’t think I changed anything in my admin recently… Emails are set YES to be sent, both payment and registration confirmation. Installed the email lig plugin, resent the registration details, nothing is recorded in the EMail Log. I am suspecting my server pHP?? But I don’t know how to check it.

Hello again,

Could you try the Mandrill service?

It replaces the native wp_mail function and has a free option:

Installed Mandrill. Tested it, and wp is still not sending emails.

Hi David,

One final test please. Can you install the free plugin Check Email (https://wordpress.org/plugins/check-email/) and see if a generic email sends.

If it does not I would perhaps refer to your host in respect to this as there would seem to be something wrong at a server level.

I installed it, and no email sends. My server says there is no problem with server or WP that they know of. Maybe I am missing something obvious… Last time it sent an email was on APR 3. (Noticed yesterday it wasn’t sending emails.) Please send me a final checklist of the control settings in the event and Espresso Settings of Premium Espresso that handle emails and I will check again (ie. “Send Payment Emails” checked YES…etc). Espresso IS communicating with PayPal so no prob there. There is a new update avail for my espresso, should I update? Purchased premium last month.

When I said my server had no problems, I meant my Host.

If the check email plugin is not sending email, then it isn’t an EE specific problem. Did you install WP through a 1-click option with your host? In that case, your host should be able to offer support to get the check email plugin working. If you downloaded and installed WP from wordpress.org, then your host may only offer support up to the php mail function. In that case, I would put in a simple php script to use the mail function directly, hit it with the browser to make it run, and see if it sends the mail. http://php.net/manual/en/function.mail.php

Wordpress uninstalled and reinstalled. Still not sending confirmation emails. Espresso not counting down attendees when someone signs up. Also, Where do I put in my Support Key? I could only find the plugin for Espresso Lite in my plugins.

As a test of EE, I installed EE Lite on another website (same host) and that site is not sending confirmation emails either. However EE does count down attendees though. WP IS sending emails on test site (tested thru ‘check email’ plugin). On site w/orig. problem, EE now not counting down attendees and not sending email confirmations, AND WP NOT sending emails (checked with ‘check email’ plugin).
ps: I requested a support key reset earlier tonite, and I imagine when when I receive it I will be able to access EE Premium again?

Hi David,

Event Espresso Lite and Event Espresso Premium are actually 2 separate plugins.

So email issue aside for a moment, if you go to Your Account Page you can download Event Espresso Premium from there.

http://take.ms/55fXe

You’ll need to de-activate and delete the Lite version then upload and activate the Premium version.

Once installed can you go to Event Espresso -> General Settings. Make sure your Organisation Settings are complete and save the settings.

Then scroll down to Email Options.

What is the current setting for ‘Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?’ & ‘Use Fancy Email Headers’?

OK I installed Premium as required. I put in my license code. ‘Send confirmation emails before payment’ set to YES, ‘Use fancy headers’ set to NO All works well except still not sending confirmation emails to me or attendee, also it takes 20+ seconds to load the payment page after confirming registration details (not sure if this is relevant).

Still, no one is getting notification emails when someone signs up on my site (using EE Premium).

Hi,

So absolutely no emails are going out still? No payment confirmation, no registration confirmation and no general emails (Check Email plugin)?

If that is the case, have you spoken to the host about the issue?

Who is the host and what type of server is it (Linux or Windows)?

David Hamill

Host is Machighway, server is Linux.

I thought I was having the same problem yesterday, but have narrowed down my emailing issue to Hotmail accounts. Has anything changed recently that would make a hotmail account not accept an EE system generated email. When I added the email address to my safe list, it worked. But, we can’t have all customers do this. Any thoughts on possible Hotmail changes?

I have tried mailing to both yahoo and outlook (hotmail) accounts to no avail.

I changed my confirmation email address for WP nd EE to a gmail address (from a yahoo address) and all works fine now including ‘Check Mail’.!! I guess this fixed the problem, but I don’t know how. Oh well, on to the next adventure! Thanks for the much needed support. BTW, EE Premium is GREAT (I usedused EE Light for 2 years and am glad I switched to Premium). Dont know how I got by using the free version so long!
