We just ran an event registration with a 50% discount code as a special. Registrants were able to apply the discount code, and the correct amount was reflected in their shopping cart. Upon paying with their credit card, the confirmation email and registration page showed they were charged the correct amount – but… The transactions passed to the credit card processor applied an ADDITIONAL 50% discount. Where they should have been charged $40.00 for and event minus 50% discount for a total of $20.00, the credit card was only charged $10. We have confirmed this behaviour for 130 transactions, and it holds for transactions with 1 or more attendees. We are using the USAePay Onsite payment gateway. |
Hi Brad, Any caching services running on your site and could you let us know if you spot any patterns on the registrations that this occurred on? — |

Hi Lorenzo, The site is running on GoDaddy hosted servers, and they may have some caching running, but I have not explicitely enabled any caching. The only thing that set there’s transactions apart from the standard transactions was the 50% discount code applied at checkout. If I were to attempt to pinpoint the culprit, it’s the logic passing the discounted amount to the payment module, but I don’t know the code well enough to ascertain that for sure. |
Hi, Could you expand upon this further:
Any links from Godaddy support on this? This is our documentation page for caching services: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setup-nocache-exclusion-rules-event-espresso/ If it was an issue with the discount logic, then this would be seen on all events. — |

I have no caching plug-ins installed.. In searching on the “Critical Pages” tab (or link) I cannot find it anywhere (and yes, I followed the instructions to locate it on the General Settings tab). But, we have not seen this behavior ever before. It appears only when a discount code is used. |
Hi, Any caching services, whether on the server level or through a plugin like WP Super Cache could contribute to the sporadic behavior that you are seeing. For this discount code, are there any other discount codes enabled that are similar? For example, if I was an attendee, is it possible for me to use multiple discount codes, thereby reducing the cost of the registration? — |
