Your Event Espresso events are using the /events/ slug (as they do by default)
So /events/ is actually an archive of your EE events, if you have a page with the slug /events/ that isn’t actually being used (the archive will overrule it)
This means that /events/all-events-for-steve/ is not actually going to a ‘page’ but is looking for an EE event with the slug ‘all-events-for-steve’, because you don’t have an event with that slug you get a 404.
To fix this you would need to change the EE slug to something other than ‘events’, you can do this within Event Espresso -> Events -> Templates (tab) -> Event Slug.
Set that to anything other than ‘events’, save the settings and flush your permalinks like Dean mentioned. Your /events/ slug will then display your events ‘page’ (rather than our archive) and your child page will correctly display the Event Table.
The new slug you enter will then be used for the archive of the events.
