The event details page in EE4 defaults to the blog template. Not good! In my theme that template has a gravatar, blog bredcrumbs etc and is totally wrong for the events details page. This must be a bug or something – it should really be possible to choose template from the themes page templates, just as you can with the registration page, thank you page, transactions page etc. in the settings (General settings > Critical Pages).

Searched knowledge base – nothing. Searched forum and I found a few posts on this. Among them one that indicates that it is indeed not possible to choose page template and that surprised me as it in my opinon departs from WordPress standard. https://eventespresso.com/topic/changing-designing-default-of-events-details-page-in-e4/ The post has a link to a tutorial to create a template for genesis. I don’t use the Genesis framework but I suppose I can use the tutorial you have to find the the right files to change, but this is not what I expected when I bought EE4.

I do hope I have missed something or misunderstood and that you can help me find an easier solution – than starting out by building my own templates. And should that be the case. Please give some instruction on where to copy the themes page template, how to edit it etc and how to point to it.

Sincerely
N

fyi: I use Envatos Enfold theme

Hi Nijen,

There’s a plugin that you can download for free from WordPress.org that you can install and it will let you select different page templates for custom post types ( Event Espresso 4 uses custom post types, so if your WordPress theme makes a really bloggy looking single post templates, the event posts end up looking really bloggy). Here’s a link to that plugin’s page:

Thanks Josh, that worked!
I will try and make my own default templates for venue and details later on though and skip that plugin. Its not updated in more than 2 years.

Anyone interested here is a link on how to build a custom post type template for the Enfold theme: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/adding-new-templates-for-custom-post-type-additions/

Thanks for being fast Josh – its very much appreciated!
🙂
