Event Registration Status is Wait List?

Hello,

We’ve been using event espresso for about 2.5 years now and all of a sudden we have a registration for a specific date time of an event that has a status of “Wait List”. We have never seen this before and are not sure:

1) how the registration got into this state
2) why we’ve never seen this before
3) what to do with it

Please let me know what else you need from me to help debug this.

Hi there,

1) The registration status can be changed to “Wait List” by editing the registration record
2) This is a newer feature
3) You can change the registration status to another status by going to Event Espresso > Registration, then click on the name of the attendee to view Registration Details. There you’ll be able to change the Registration Status.

So i can see what you’re saying but we did not change this registration to “wait list”. Only my wife and I have access to this site and neither of us did us. Further, it looks like the paypal transaction associated with this registration is still in the “pending” state. I’m very confused.

Ok so i’m looking at the transaction details and now i’m really confused. Here’s what I see:

Transaction #1163
April 3, 2018 9:01 PM
Transaction Status: Complete
Last Method of Payment: Paypal Standard

But then under “Payment Details” there is only one line and it’s status is “blue” or “pending” and the payments total is $0.00. So how is this transaction complete?

Because PayPal Standard does not work as expected.

Event Espresso 4 dropped support for PayPal Standard over a year ago because of the issues related to PayPal’s Instant Payment Notifications. PayPal Express has replaced PayPal Standard, and you can use your same PayPal account with PayPal Express. Here’s a link to the guide that shows how to get up and running with PayPal Express:

I suppose I’m a little frustrated then… usually when you guys deprecate stuff or require a certain version of something you put a notification at the top of my wordpress admin screen (like the one I got today about updating my php version!). I never knew that paypal standard was not supported anymore. I’m on event espresso version 4.9.58.p and “Paypal Standard” still shows up as a payment option.

There was a notification, and the reason they did not completely remove PayPal standard is because it would have left a lot of sites without an active payment method. So it was decided to allow the payment option to still be there for existing sites. New sites do not get a PayPal Standard option.
