Event Registration Opens at Bottom of Page, rather than next to event?

I’m setting up a web site for our comedy club.  Every weekend is a category, and every category includes five events (shows) each weekend.  When I show a list of the events in that category (weekend), if I want to purchase a ticket for the Thursday night show, I click on REGISTER inside that event’s box.  But rather than that BOX expanding, a box at the bottom of the page expands.  Unless you know what you are looking for, it looks to the user like nothing happened.

1.  I don’t like the word “Register” — I’d rather it said “Buy Ticket”

2.  I would prefer to have just a small button that says “Buy Tix for Thursday” that will open the registration or purchase box.

3.  When I use the SINGLEEVENT short code, I get the “This event has expired.” message, even though it is in the future, and it is OPEN.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Ken,

But rather than that BOX expanding, a box at the bottom of the page expands. Unless you know what you are looking for, it looks to the user like nothing happened.

Well, from what I could see it looks like a set up issue.

Can you confirm that you have a page called something like event registration and that page contains [ESPRESSO_EVENTS]? Also the category list, how have you set that up? Normally they are set up using the [EVENT_LIST] or [EVENT_ESPRESSO_CATEGORY] on a different page to the main esspresso_events shortcode.

I am guessing that you have added extra shortcodes to the event registration page, rather than separating them onto individual pages.

The general process with the default plugin is that the user clicks Register and they are taken to the registration page for that event, there will be no other events listed, where they can fill out a form. Currently this takes place over several pages.

If you user Multiple Event Registration (MER) which I see you have active, the user can click Add to Cart multiple times and when ready click view cart and they will be taken to the cart page.

1. I don’t like the word “Register” — I’d rather it said “Buy Ticket”

Best thing to do here is to use a translate program to literally transalte that phrase into another phrase, its quite easy to do, here is a guide https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-change-wording-with-poedit/

2. I would prefer to have just a small button that says “Buy Tix for Thursday” that will open the registration or purchase box.

You can use the above guide to translate any wording to suit your needs. YOu may need to use some CSS if you want to change the style of the buttons.

3. When I use the SINGLEEVENT short code, I get the “This event has expired.” message, even though it is in the future, and it is OPEN.

Do you have an example of this? What is the exact shortcode you are using? Where are you placing the shortcode?
