A client called to tell me their event registration page disappeared from their site. In the WP admin EE settings there were no Events listed, it was as if someone deleted the event. There was nothing in Trash too.
I thought that was strange so I looked at the EE tables and saw the event meta and registrations were all intact. However, when I checked the wp_posts table there were no rows for the event. No posts with post type espresso_events.
I inserted a new row using the event ID and now the event is showing in the events list in the WP admin and on the frontend of the site.
I’d really like to know how this happened. When an event is deleted from the WP admin EE settings, is the post deleted in the wp_posts table, but the event meta retained in the EE tables? Or is everything for that event wiped out from all tables?
Recall too, that I found nothing in Trash, so I’m wondering if someone deleted the event from the admin and also emptied the Trash. I’m thinking maybe that happened and since the there were some registrations already that’s why the event meta was retained in the EE tables.
Hi! Event Espresso does not automatically remove any event information. Someone may have accidentally removed the event via the WP dashboard. When you delete an event, it is moved to the trash. You would then need to permanently delete it by going to the trash and then removing it.
Another idea that comes to mind is if a database backup was restored from prior to when this event was created through the event editor.
