Hello, For some reason, starting today, I haven’t been able to log into the EE app. I’m getting a message stating “Credentials mismatch – Check login ID or password”. Note this is the first I’ve seen of this. Only recent updates made were to the theme and Wordfence. I rolled back the theme to it’s previous version, and deactivated Wordfence, both to no avail. Are there any known issues I should be aware of? |
Hi, The only issue we’re aware of that would cause that particular error message would be an incorrect username / password. One thing to keep in mind is you need to use the same username/password you use to log in to your WordPress website. You do not use the username password for this site for the app. |

Hi Josh, thank you for the followup. Nothing out of the ordinary has changed as far at the typical login process we’re used to. We’ve used the app since we started using EE, but for some reason, we’ve had trouble logging in starting a couple days back. Are they any other issues that you might be aware of? |
I can point you to the troubleshooting guide: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-event-apps/#troubleshooting |

Hi Josh, after a bit more troubleshooting, I’ve narrowed down the issue to w3 cache. Able to sign in if that plugin is deactivated. There have been no recent updates to that plugin in particular. Are you aware of any conflicts with W3 – or any caching plugin for that matter – that would cause issues with being able to log into the app? |
I’m not aware of W3TC having conflicts with REST API and/or authentication, but I can install that plugin on a site and look into this further. |
|
|
That would be great. What information would you need from me – just admin credentials? |
Actually I don’t need those or any other information from you. I’ll install the plugin on a site that I already have access to. |

In case there’s any doubt about which plugin we’re talking about, this is the plugin I installed onto a testing site: https://wordpress.org/plugins/w3-total-cache/ and it was updated 3 weeks ago. I’m not seeing any issues with the app while that plugin is activated. I tried changing some of its settings and the app continues to work as expected. There may be another plugin on the site that’s contributing to the issue on your site, this might also be an issue that’s unique to your server. |

Interesting. I appreciate you looking into it. We’ve been able to access the app (with any and all W3 updates); but for some reason we mysteriously stopped being able to. Thank you again, and I’ll see if I can figure it out. |
