I’ve searched the forums and it looks as if others may have had the same or similar problem, but the resolutions aren’t posted publicly. I have verified the following: my filename is “events.csv”, my dates are formatted like YYYY-MM-DD, and I have no apostrophes. I have used the provided template. My data rows have a 1 in the first column. When I upload, I get Upload file has been deleted. Here is a snippet from my file: Mondays 8:30-9:30pm with Nelson Wong Tuesdays 11:35-12:35pm with Bill Robertson Mondays 8:30-9:30pm with Dan Kleiman Can someone help me determine the problem? |

looks like my attempts to format as plain text didn’t work, hope you can read it |
Hi Dan, What you’ve posted helps. It looks like a lot of the columns have no information entered. These include address, cost, reg_limit, show description, and event identifier (the event identifier can be anything as long as each event identifier is unique) |

Are those all required fields? We are a school, so these all take place at the same address (I can copy and paste if this is an issue, but I don’t add an address in the Event editor) Cost I left blank because most of these courses have several prices that was going to add after the import. There is no reg limit (do I need to enter 99999 or something?) I can add “Y” to show description I have already tried adding unique event identifiers, and I got the same result. |
|
Sorry, but I am not seeing a column right now for address…can you help me locate it? Or is it not in the template? I am attempting to add other values in the blanks and try that… |
|
Sorry, I discovered hidden columns…ignore that last reply. |

What would I put in “additional_limit”? Is that Y/N? Or a number? |
|
I have entered data in every other column, except for “additional_limit” as I am not sure what to put in there, but I am still getting the same result. My upload file now looks like this (the first few records): 0,event_name,event_desc,address,city,state,country,zip,phone,display_desc,event_identifier,start_date,end_date,start_time,end_time,reg_limit,event_cost,allow_multiple,additional_limit,send_mail,is_active,conf_mail,registration_start,registration_end Mondays 8:30-9:30pm with Nelson Wong Tuesdays 11:35-12:35pm with Bill Robertson Mondays 8:30-9:30pm with Dan Kleiman |

I just tried adding a “5” to that field, since I was guessing it was the “Max group attendees” field. I am getting the same error as I reported. |
Hi Dan, I went through and cleaned this up a bit. It looks like the line breaks in the event’s description were also causing issues, so I replaced them with html break tags. I tested the exported CSV file and it imported successfully. Here’s a copy that you can use: |

Thanks, I’ve been offline for nearly a week, so I’d like to close this out today if possible. I only pasted a snippet of the file in this thread, so I’ll need to replicate the changes you made in my original file. Was it only replacing line breaks in the description with html tags? Or was there anything else? Thanks in advance. |
As far as I can remember that was the main thing. If you see anything different in the file that I posted above they are likely minor things that may not have made a difference. |

I am not sure which of the two final things I tried worked, as I tried them at the same time…in the interest of time. I copied whatever quote mark was in your sample (in the dropbox) and used replace in my file, and while I was in Numbers ( I am on a Mac) I chose to “Save As…” and chose some Windows format…and then it finally worked. The rest of the suggestions were resulting in the same error as I reported. Just in case this helps anybody else. I appreciate having access to “beta” stuff, but I think the bulk import needs more work OR more documentation. |
