Hi

Running into an issue with Event Confirmation page. After confirming the event registration, I am taken to a page that shows up blank – but momentarily I do see some text that seem to have a link to payment providers. Tried switching the theme to default 2015 but didn’t work.

The event itself is accessible at: http://myhmec.com/hmec-2015/hmec-2015-event-registration/

Any clue on what might have been wrong?

Hi Srinivas,

Is this just before making a payment or after?

If you go to Event Espresso -> Payment Settings -> Authorize.net SIM Settings.

There you will find the option ‘Bypass Payment Overview Page’

Set that to No and save the settings.

Currently the confirmation page is skipped and I am directed to Auth.net to make a payment, so I can no see the confirmation page.

Ok, updated the settings. Please check.

The page is still directing me to auth.net.

However I did notice your site is running W3 Total Cache and your event pages are caching. This may not be causing the specific error you see but your registrations will not work correctly whilst the EE pages are caching.

Can you follow the steps here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setup-nocache-exclusion-rules-event-espresso/

To exclude the Event Espresso critical pages from caching (be sure to follow the steps for EE3).

Currently what happens for me is I register onto the event and then I’m directed to this page – http://take.ms/oG3ah

Which is the auth.net SIM page to make a payment. Do you not see the same?

Turned off TotalCache altogether. Created all the EE pages for registration/cancelation etc. Still I am seeing the same problem.

On the “blank” page, I could actually see, in the source-code, the entire PAGE contents with redirect code to Authorize.net after few seconds in there but it simply doesn’t work.

I took the source-code of the page and playing with the HTML locally to see what may be causing the issue.

I can remove the following code from “wp-footer” div and the page simply worked.

<script type=’text/javascript’ src=’http://myhmec.com/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/scripts/espresso_payment_page.js?ver=1.0′></script&gt;

I see that this is coming from templates/return_payment.php && gateway/gateway_display.php scripts. For now, I have simply disabled the two lines for espresso_payment_page.js :
wp_register_script
wp_enqueue_script calls

With the above “hack”, our registration is working fine – haven’t seen any other issues yet. Does this mean anything at all?

After making the payments – I am returned to my site but without any THEME on it. I vaguely remember seeing this a while back. Is there a way to attach a screenshot here?

Hi Srinivas,

If you take a close look at the Thank you page, when it’s missing the theme, you’ll note that the URL is actually an Authorize.net URL, and it’s trying to load your theme’s stylesheet as https. Some browsers will not allow loading http assets over https. You can fix this by getting an SSL cert for your website’s domain.

Another important thing: Removing the payment page’s JS may result in people mistakenly doubling their registration, so I can advise making sure the cache is cleared and disabled before deactivating the caching plugin, then if you need further help troubleshooting the payment page we can take a look.

Josh

We have SSL cert installed and setup on the site. You can simply go to: https://myhmec.com/ and bring up the site.

We are running into issue after issue with EE. I would like to clean the installation and start fresh and see if that works better. Few questions:

* Should I go with EE3 or EE4?
* Last time when I wanted to do fresh install – ran into issues with tables left behind etc. Is there a document that would help me clean up plugins, tables, templates and anything else and install from scratch?

Thank you.

Hi Srinivas, starting over shouldn’t be necessary here.

Could you confirm that Event Espresso was installed through your WP dashboard?

Earlier you mentioned that you tried on a default theme. Did you also test with only Event Espresso running?

Hi Lorenzo

I have tried many things and running into few issues that looks like things we faced in the past and coming back now. I feel it may be cleaner way for me to go with a fresh install and try solving or take your paid support if need be. Please share documentation as well as recommendation whether we should go with EE4 or EE3. Thank you.

Hi Srinivas, if it was working before and suddenly issues have started then there could be a conflict with another plugin on your site.

Could you summarize the current issues in a few sentences so we are up to speed?

Also, have you tested on defaults including a default WP theme and only Event Espresso running with a current version of WordPress?

Regarding the best version for you, that will depend on your registration needs. Will you need any of the following?

Promotions
Multiple event registration
Recurring events

Thanks

Hi, is any additional information available on my other questions?

https://eventespresso.com/topic/event-confirmation-page-is-not-working/#post-159906

It sounds like this was working before and has recently stopped so it would be helpful to track down the cause of that.

Based on your recent reply, you could deactivate Event Espresso 3, install the latest version of Event Espresso 4. You’ll then be prompted to migrate.

Click no and Event Espresso 4 will start fresh.

Hi Lorenzo

There are another half-a-dozen issues that I am facing that are were working at some point in the past. Not going to be easy for me to track each and every one of them.

I dont think it is a sudden stoppage. We have had issues last year and the plan was to reinstall but just didn’t get around to do it and this year’s even is already here.

Fresh Install: In the past, on one of our other sites, the tables left behind caused an issue. Does EE4 use any tables/configuration-settings from EE3?

Hi, Event Espresso 4 uses its own database tables (new ones are created). If you would like to start fresh then do not choose the migration option.

Thanks

Lorenzo
