Hi, my site had been running smoothly until a week ago and then confirmation emails stopped going out. I have been testing and trying to find out why with no luck. I hadn’t made any changes to the site but updates have been run to EE in that time. My settings look to be correct and I have checked the site can send emails using the Check Mail plugin which works. What else can I try? |
Hi Mark, Could you setup this email audit plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/email-log/ Then try resending some registration details emails through Event Espresso. Then check the log to see if anything is recorded. Also some web hosts require the send from email to match the domain of the website. hello@example.com –> example.com — |

Hi Lorenzo, yes my emails are recorded in the log. I have been using an email address that matches the domain of the site and no luck with that one either. |
Hi Mark, As the Emails are shown in the log Event Espresso is sending the emails as expected so this is likely a server configuration issue. There are a lot of steps that EE has no control over when sending emails. Basically EE issues an email command to your WordPress install using the wp_mail() function which then passes this over to the server, from there any number of steps can be taken, any of which could cause issues. We recommend using a transnational email service such as Mandrill or Postmark to remove most of the uncertainties when when sending email. Personally I use Mandrill but we have more information on both of those options here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/ |

Thanks Tony, I’ll have a look at Mandrill. WordPress can send emails out, I receive them when I use the Check Email plugin to send an email to any address. |
Hi Mark, I tested a registration and received the confirmation email although looks like it was sent from Mandrill so after you made the changes. It is odd that that WP could send emails but not EE, then they work through Mandrill. Just to confirm, the email address settings you changed was within Event Espresso -> General Settings. Primary Contact Email? |

Hi Tony, yes it wis working now I have used Mandrill, thanks for that. Yes the email setting I changed was the Primary Contact Email. Thanks for your help. |
No Problem, glad its working well for you. I’ll mark this thread resolved, if you run into any other issues please feel free to start another 🙂 |
