Hello, Email notifications suddenly stopped working last week and are not being sent when a request form is filled out on the website. We are using Contact Form 7. I added an alternative email to the list, and it seems to work on that (Gmail), but still not working on the other emails ****@hrunlimitedinc.com. How can I solve this issue? Thank you! |
Hi there, What is a request form? You mentioned you are using Contact Form 7 so is this when users are submitting a form or registering onto your EE event? |
|
|
Yes, I am referring to when users submit a form. |
Sorry but that doesn’t really make it any clearer. Are email notifications being sent out when a user registers onto an EE event? |

Sorry if I am not being clear. We are supposed to get email notifications whenever someone fills out our form online. Last week we stopped getting the email notifications. I added an alternative gmail email to see if the notifications would send to that one, and it did. But it is still not working for the other email addresses. |
Can you add a link to the form you mean here? I’m trying to figure out if its an issue with EE not sending emails, or if its Contact Form 7 failing or if the site itself can’t send emails (in which case no emails will work) |

It’s definitely not the site itself because the notification is being sent to one of the emails. Here is the link to the form. Thank you for looking into this! |

Just to let you know, it looks like the people who are filling out the forms are getting the emails as well. |
Ok, that’s a contact form using Contact Form 7 which is actually outside our scope for support as it’s not an issue with EE. However, if the problem is only happening for a specific domain it’s possible the emails are being marks as spam, are you sending the emails using your host mail server? |

The emails are not being marked as spam, we already checked the spam folder. The email notifications are being sent to emails using our host mail server. |
Just because they are not in the spam folder, doesn’t mean they aren’t being marked as spam and dropped by the mail server before they even hit your mailbox. The steps I would take would be to install the WP Mail logging plugin, switch back to use the ‘broken’ email address and test a couple of form submissions. Then look in the WP Mail log to see if the email is shown there, if it is, your site is correctly triggering and sending the email over to your mail sever meaning from there its out of your control and you would need to contact the host to have them investigate further. Generally for email issue we would recommend you switch to a transactional email service, we have some listed here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/ Which basically means your sending your mail through their servers rather than your host. |

Thank you for the suggestion. I will try that. |
