Hi I’m running into a problem where after I register for an event that Gmail classifys my emails as phishing and will not show me the content of the email. These emails include Event Registration Details, Event Payment Details, etc. I’ve added google’s filters. But that is an unlikey solution because our registrant will not know how to do that before they order. Anyone have any solutions on why emails are flagged as phishing and why the emails contain no data? |
Hi Julie, Is this when using EE4? If so are you using the default templates with no modifications? There are multiple reasons emails can be marked as phishing and/or spam, the most common one is a blacklisted server IP address of which ever server is sending your mail. Is the site currently live so I can run a test registration? |
The site is not currently live yet. But yes I am using EE4, I had to create my own archive template. And we’re currently using GoDaddy servers at the moment. Is it possible that the Godaddy ip are blacklisted? here’s a glimpse at the info in the email Delivered-To: xxxx@gmail.com |
Its possible yes. The easiest/quickest way to test is to basically remove the server from the equation and use a service such as Mandrill to send your transactional emails. It is free up to 12 thousand emails per month. More information can be found here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/ With setup instructions for wpMandril here: http://blog.mailchimp.com/transactional-email-plugin-for-WordPress/ Basically this then sends all of your emails through the Mandril email servers (which you should be able to rely upon much more than your hosts) |

I’ve installed Mandrill and sent a couple emails. There is no google phishing message, which is good. However the email still contains no content. |
Hi Julie, Could you go to your WordPress admin and go to Event Espresso –> Messages –> Settings. Then turn off each message type as shown in this video: http://cl.ly/image/0b080z3u0R2u Then reverse your changes to reactivate them. Let us know if this helps. — |
I removed them and added them back to reactivate it. However it still gives me empty email notifications. |
is it possible that I need to add my key into the plugin? |
Hi, They should not be blank. Could you try deactivating all plugins and reactivating only Event Espresso? What happens if you use the test email feature in the messages editor (appears when you are editing any message type)? — |
I’ve deactivated all the plugin and it still did not work. I’ve used the test email feature on a template and it send fine to my email. |

Do you guys mind taking a look into our sandbox to see what’s wrong? |
Hi there, Could you please create a temporary WordPress admin login so we can take a closer look at this issue? Please share that temporary login through the secure link below: To prevent delays in troubleshooting, be sure to double check your information on the form before submitting. The submit button for the form appears at the end of the form. Again, please ensure that the temporary login works. Thank you. — |

Thank you, I just sent it in. |
Thanks. I’m working on this now. — |

After changing the theme to the twenty fourteen, it still does not work. I started a new wordpress install on the same domain and installed EE. And that installed worked. Could it be something with an old wordpress install that could have caused this problem? |
Hi, Were any changes made to the WordPress core? Could you try reinstalling WordPress through your dashboard on the site where it is not working? — |
