Having just emailed a bunch of racers as the timing guy, it occurred to me that it’d be good to be able to email the race organiser too, and attach files as well.
So, I had a quick search in the forums and found this plugin WP Mail SMTP.
Will this permit me to do those things and will it simply take over the email work of EE?
I know it won’t conflict with MailChimp integration, but I do have wpMandrill installed.
Hi Angus, Postmark App and Mandrill are transaction email services. They’ll take over sending emails from the local email server. This means that any emails that are handled via wp_mail() would then go through one of those services.
You’ll see better performance with a transactional email service than via WP SMTP. That plugin uses a personal email account to send out emails. It isn’t intended to send out a lot of emails and they could be marked as SPAM.
There isn’t a way to attach files to the messages. However, you could update a document / file to WP media and then include a link in the message.
Thanks
