When anyone tries to register on my site, they get the message: An error has occurred: Please let me know what is happening as this was not happening but started recently. http://atlantammo.org/?espresso_events=atlanta-mobile-awards |
Hi, Were you recently using any caching plugins or security plugins on your site? — |
|
|
sorry, I forgot to mention this is EE4, latest version (upgraded today). I’ve disabled my theme and the problem still occurs with the the latest version of 2014 theme… |
|
my site is hosted with WP Engine and they have their own caching. I’ve purged the cache and its still happening. |
Alright, please request no-cache rules from WP Engine for your Event Espresso pages: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setup-nocache-exclusion-rules-event-espresso/ — |

ok – so the problem is still there despite the caching exclusions being added. the problem is related to a 404 issue we had a month ago. you can see it here on our staging site: http://atlantammo.staging.wpengine.com/events/atlanta-mobile-awards/ Everyone gets to this page by clicking on ‘view details’ from this page: http://atlantammo.staging.wpengine.com/atlanta-mobile-marketing-events/ We noticed it was a permalinks issue for most people, and we did that but it didn’t help us. So we setup a 302 redirect for the live site from: events/atlanta-mobile-awards/ to: /?espresso_events=atlanta-mobile-awards When we delete the 302 on live, the 307 registration error is gone. But we cannot delete it until this 404 issue is resolved. Can you help? |
Hi, Could you deactivate Event Espresso and then reactivate and then go to permalinks and re-save? — |
|
|
I just did that and it did not work. Next steps? |
Try switching your site into defaults (default WP theme and only Event Espresso). Then refresh permalinks and re-test. It should work at this point. From here, restore your site a few steps at a time until you have located the source of the conflict. — |

I have noticed my theme has custom post types for events and has a second built in events page: http://atlantammo.org/events-1-column/ Can we make that page work instead of the original? I get an error when I click on view details there. I’ll test the theme removal again with all other plugins disabled and get back to you. |
That is the cause. You’ll need to set Event Espresso to use a different slug: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/change-events-cpt-slug/ Then refresh permalinks. — |

Thanks man – that process did it for me. I didn’t even disable the plugins, just turned off the theme and switched to 2014, saved permalinks, then tested and it worked. I activated my theme and everything works. Whats the story with this process of permalinks? Sounds like there are some underlying EE link structure issues… |
