Hi,

I get this error message when using the Resend Registration Detail button.

However, the message IS sent.

Using Mandrill. Error occurs on 4.7.2 and 4.7.4

Hi Michael, did you recently turn off any of the contexts for the registration approved message type?

Yes.

We turned of Registration APproved-Registrant Context, because of the following new behavior:
when using Resend Reg Details button, PRIMARY REGISTRANT context is now used. Prior to 4.7.2, only REGISTRANT Context was used.

I just tried re-enabling Registrant Context, but still receive the error.

to be clear: Resend now uses BOTH contexts.

OK, I understand that both contexts should be used going forward.

So now I would like to address just the error code. Thanks

Hi Michael, could you share a screenshot of your messages overview screen (Event Espresso –> Messages)?

Thanks

Lorenzo

Hi Michael,

The error message that you’re seeing can happen if any of the TO: or FROM: fields for those message templates cause an exception or error to be thrown. I’ve seen this happen where the TO: field had more than one email address in it. So that’s the first thing I’d check.

It may also help to narrow things down a bit by removing what’s in the TO: Field for each of the message types, one at a time, then test a resend. If you can find out if it’s only one, two, or if it turns out to be all three of the messages throwing an error, it will help us know where to look next.

It looks like I get errors if either TO or FROM uses either of the following shortcodes on either context
[EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL]

[ESPRESSO_ADMIN_FORMATTED_EMAIL]

If I put my personal email address for everything in all contexts, I get no error.

Some mail servers don’t like the formatting, so you can try the non-formatted versions of the same shortcodes, which are:

[EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL]

[ESPRESSO_ADMIN_EMAIL]

They work! Thank you.

So, this is the mail server? As in Mandrill, in our case? Then Mandrill must have changed something this week, or EE 4.7.2=< introduced a new syntax in the formatted versions.
In other words, we didn’t change our settings but started receiving the error.

It could be the mail server has changed. EE4’s formatting for email addresses have not changed. The other thing you can check is whether any of the content that gets generated with those shortcodes have changed (ie, the event admin’s first/last name)
