EE4 – Registrations Abandoned Via PayPal

Hi Guys,

I’ve setup PayPal Standard and the payment goes through the PayPal system correctly. However, the registration stays as “Abandoned”. The TXN Date and Shopping Cart Icon are orange.

Obviously the correct information isn’t returning. How do I fix this? I’m using EE4 4.8.33.

Hi there,

If you view the Transaction (either click the TXN date or use the ‘View Transaction’ button within the registration) does it show the payment as complete?

Sounds like the users are not returning to your site after making a payment within PayPal. Is auto return enabled within your PayPal account?

I would recommend running throughout eh steps here:

To check IPN’s are enabled on your account and auto return is also enabled.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Yes, the user is returned to the website.

“Congratulations

Your registration has been successfully processed.
Check your email for your registration confirmation or click the button below to view / download / print a full description of your purchases and registration information.”

Down further on the same page, under the Transaction Details:
Total Cost: $1.00 (AUD)
Amount Owing: $1.00 (AUD)
Transaction Status: Incomplete View Payment Options

I’ve enabled IPNs and Auto Return was already enabled. Now the TXN is blue and saying it’s incomplete.

Is that the original registration or a new one?

If the IPN’s were disabled when you ran the registration you’ll need to either re-send the IPN from your PayPal account, or run another registration now the IPNs are enabled and test if that works.

If you go to ‘My Account -> History’ you should see a history of IPN’s on your account, can you re-send the IPN from there?

Yes, I completed a new registration after I setup the IPN and the IPN is “Retrying”.

It looks like your site is currently in maintenance mode, which means the IPN’s can not reach your site when PayPal sends them and be acknowledged when received.

The /transactions/ page needs to be publicly available for PayPal IPNs to work.

Can you try again with the site out of maintenance mode please?
