EE4 Registration Emails stopped working

Hi – I recently changed the email address for “primary contact” in EE4, and also updated all the events author to the same person. However, no emails are getting sent out. I checked the messages page to ensure the Event Admin is a recipient but still nothing. I also searched the forums and I followed the other instructions.

Prior to changing the EE4’s Primary Contact and Event Authors, I received all the emails. Please help me understand what I’m doing wrong. Thanks.

Hi Ray,

Are all emails now failing or only certain emails (email notifications are sent to different recipients)?

Also, are you on the latest software at 4.3.0?

No, just the emails to the admin. I am on the latest software and the emails did work before I modified the Primary Contact and the Event Author.

Anything in spam or junk?

What is the shortcode that is in use for the TO field for the Event admin?

Hi – nothing in spam or junk. The TO field shows [EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL]. Maybe because it’s the same shortcode as the From short code?

Hi Ray,

If you alter the To field to use the [EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL] shortcode do the emails then send?

We have a ticket to address an issue with [EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL] in that in some situations it does not parse correctly. This will be included within the next update to Event Espresso 4.

Nope, that didn’t work either. Here are images of my messages and default messages panel. Thanks.

Hi,

Could you drop in an alternative email address? If that works, then please setup the Mandrill service and add your original email back to the TO field for the registration approved email:

I’ll try that but shouldn’t there be a “Registration” message in the default messages? Here’s what I currently have for default messages:

Payment Received
Registration Approved
Not Approved Registration
Registration Pending Payment
Payment Reminder
Payment Declined

That would be this one:

Registration Approved

Locate the message context above in the messages screen for Event Espresso. Then click on Event Admin. Then adjust the TO field to a different email and save. Then re-test.

If it works, then there is a problem with the email being delivered.

Event Espresso doesn’t do any filtering of emails. It instructs WP to send them out so if some emails work and others don’t, then setup Mandrill:

By default the first registration status of any registration will be ‘Registration Pending Payment’ (unless you have changed the ‘Default Payment Status’ within either the individual Event or Event Espresso -> Events -> Settings for all events)

If a payment is made in full the Status is automatically switched to ‘Approved’ and the relevant messages sent for that status.

So you should be able to edit either Pending Payment or Approved, depending on your event setup to test this. Personally I would edit Pending Payment and make a fake registration using the Invoice Gateway, once you select the gateway and Finalize the registration, the Pending Payment message(s) will be sent.
