L.S.

Through the website tagongsbewiis.nl is use EventEspresso for customers to purchase a ticket for a stage performance.

In 80% of the cases all is going well, but there is also a fairly large group of customers indicating that they do not receive the fainel email containing the link to there tickets.

Advice and or tips.

Sincerely,
Jan Bensliman – webmaster tagongsbewiis.nl

P.S. tagongsbewiis is Frisian for ticket.

Hi there,

Do they receive the confirmation emails, but just not the ticket notice?

If you view the message activity queue (Event Espresso -> Messages -> Message Activity) and search for the email address of one of the users that reported this do you see the ticket notice shown in the queue? If so what status bar does it have to the left? (it should be green)

Have you requested the users check within their spam folder to confirm the email is not there?

Are you using your hosts mail server to send the mail or a transaction email service such as SendGrid or Postmark?

Switching to use a transactional email service allows you to track the emails and shows failed emails etc. For further details take a look here:

I just find out, that the system starting October 1st stopt sending e-male entirety.
the only thing I can think of is the update to WordPress 4.6, around that time.

Indeed, the color is orange. And when I attempt sending this message:

No message was sent because of problems with sending. Either all the messages you selected were not a sendable message, they were ALREADY sent on a different scheduled task, or there was an error. If there was an error, you can look at the messages in the message activity list table for any error messages.

Help!!!

October 1st? Did you mean September?

Are you using a transactional email plugin or your hosts mail server?

On the message you just retried, is there an i icon within the actions section? If so click that, does it show you any error messages?

Yes September (sorry)

No not yet using a transactional plugin. Lorenzo just recomanded SendGrid.

icon info:

Message was not executed successfully.
Messenger and Message Type were valid and active, but the messenger send method failed.
The email did not send successfully.
The WordPress wp_mail function is used for sending mails but does not give any useful information when an email fails to send.
It is possible the “to” address (yanula@live.nl) or “from” address (EF ES Produkties ) is invalid.

Setting up SendGrid (or whichever service you prefer) and sending your emails through that is a good start.

The error message basically means that everything looked fine until the email as passed to wp_mail() to actually send the email, that failed but did not give any indication of why.

It could be that your mail server does not like ‘formatted’ emails:

It is possible the “to” address (yanula@live.nl) or “from” address (EF ES Produkties ) is invalid.

The ‘EF ES Produkties’ will be a formatted email that looks like this:

John Smith <johnsemail@hisserver.com>

You can work around that but will likely find that one of the above services will just work once set up.

Oke,

So how and where do I change
The ‘EF ES Produkties’ will be a formatted email that looks like this:
kaarten@tagongsbewiis.nl

– I did install SendGrid, not sure yet if it integrates well with EE4

You want to change the formatted emails for non formatted?

To be clear formatted emails show the name of the sender (either the organization name or the event author name depending on the shortcode used) within the email, no formatted emails will just show the sender as the email address.

Using SendGrid you should not need to alter this as it should just work, however if you prefer to just use the email address you’ll need to edit the message templates within:

Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message templates.

Each of the templates (and each individual context within the templates) will need to be edited to change and _FORMATTED shortcode such as [CO_FORMATTED_EMAIL] to use the shortcode within _FORMATTED, so in this example [CO_EMAIL].

I can provide further details if that’s what you wish to do?

Have you gone through all of the steps to setup SendGrid and sent a test email from your site to confirm its working?
