Hi,

I upgraded to version 4.8.26p and discovered that after this update, when exporting the registrants list to a CSV file, it is run i split batches, but the output is never an CSV file, it is printed directly in the browser window.

I am running MacBook Pro (late 2011) and I am using Safari.

Would be great to get it into an CSV file with the right character setting so that Excel interprets it correctly when opening it up.

Thank you!

Kind regards,
Andreas

Hey Andreas, hey first an FYI that if you add define( 'EE_USE_OLD_CSV_REPORT_CLASS', true ); to your wp-config.php file, you can again use the old CSV report generation code.
But that’s really just a bandaid, because that old CSV report generation code doesn’t work for big downloads.
What version of Safari are you running?

I just tried it on Safari 5.1.7 on Windows and the file got opened by my spreadsheet program fine (it gave me an option to either “open” it or “save” it; selecting “open” opened it in my spreadsheet program (not the browser) and save just put it in my downloads folder).

Hi Michael!

Thank you for your response!
The version of Safari that I am using is version 9.0.2 (11601.3.9).
I do not get the option to choose whether to save or open.

What would be defined as a “big downloads”?

Now I can simply select all text that is output in the Safari browser and then paste it into an Excel sheet, but it feels a little backwards doing it that way. 🙂
And also the character set is not correct.

Thank you!

Kind Regards,
Andreas

Andreas can you try another browser, or right click when you click the export button?

What would be defined as a “big downloads”?

It depends on server resources, but generally a CSV file with more than 500 records in it is starting to get pretty big, in my opinion.

And also the character set is not correct.

Can you provide an example file or data that shows this? It would help with debugging

Hi Michael,

I tested with Firefox and that worked like a charm. 🙂

So I guess Safari is not behaving as it should.

Thank you for your support!

This case can be closed.

Kind regards,
Andreas
