EE4 Currency Problem

Hi Josh, Lorenzo, Dean and support staff.

Firstly – thanks for great support!

I am running EE4 on a multisite installation – main site is English, with two other networked sites in German and Italian. This is for a Buddhist organisation that conducts courses in various locations in Europe, and needs to sell tickets to UK market in GBP and European markets in Euros.

I know that the currency that EE uses for prices is geared to the Your Organisation country set in “General Settings”

We have had to fudge this a little to fit our situation. Our organisation is based in the UK, but in order to get prices to appear in Euros on the German and Italian sites, we are using our UK address in Address1 and Address2, but setting the “Your Organisation” country to Germany and Italy.

This does the trick with the getting EE to show the prices in Euros on the Italian and German sites, but doesn’t look so good on the HTML invoice (which is not a big deal however).

The problem we are having though, is that, for some reason, the UK site (where Your Organisation has the country set for UK) has three times suddenly reset itself as “Germany” instead of UK – which then puts all the UK prices into Euros, where they had been GBP and also then messes up the Critical Page settings.

This is alarming, because I can’t figure out what is triggering this shift.

What might fix this, and would be ideal for us, would be to have the “Your Organisation” address set to UK across all three sites, but then specify the currency EE uses separately using a pluggable function, so that the currency setting was decoupled from the Your Organisation address settings.

Hopefully this would stop the sites spontaneously switching languages (which has happened three times since we launched 24 hours ago), make our address details consistent across all the sites, and we could still transact in Euros on the German and Italian sites.

Sorry for the long post – do you have any suggestions, please?

Many thanks for your help.

I just found Dean’s solution – will try that

Go to the General Settings > Countries tab.
Select Romania from the dropdown list if not already selected
Change the following:
Country Currency Code EUR
Currency Name Singular Euro
Currency Name Plural Euros
Currency Sign €
Once that is done, and Saved, all prices on the site will be in Euros and PayPal Standard will pick it up as Euros too.
Currently it is not possible to use more than one currency at a time, so it’s not possible to use Leu and Euros at the same time.

Hi Alan,

That’s most likely the easiest solution until we figure out an elegant way to support multiple currencies.

Thanks Dean – you have no idea how relieved I was to find this solution.

Thanks for your great support!
