I would like to remove the Taxes and Payments Section of the PDF receipt. How would I accomplish this?

See link for explanation:

Hi Sakirose,

Please note that these instructions are for Event Espresso 4.2.6 and may change in future versions because we’d like to make this simpler.

Step one is you open and modify invoice_body.template.php and remove the unwanted sections of the template. You can find invoice_body.template.php in the Event Espresso plugin’s /modules/gateways/Invoice/lib/templates folder.

Step two is you copy the modified template to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates/modules/gateways/Invoice/lib/templates and it will load from there. Then when you go to update the plugin, your changes will be safe.

One of the developers said he is going to think of a way to make this simpler (hopefully with fewer paths to create in the /uploads/espresso folder). For now, you need to set up a file path that matches exactly what’s inside the core plugin.

Yeah, that seems like a lot of backend technical work to contract just to toggle off a section. Any idea of when this will be in the settings?

We’re not planning on adding settings for to make this type of customization to the invoice. The plan is to make it so the templates can load from something like /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates/Invoice instead of the longer string of folders that it takes right now.

As it stands, this type of customization can be done by a PHP developer in under 1/2 an hour.

Hi,

We do not currently provide estimates on upcoming features as they can change. Moving a copy of the template along with the folder structure to the wp-content/uploads/espresso folder will instruct Event Espresso to load the template from that location.

I hope the comments below will help your upcoming versions. I believe your team may be to spending more than double the energy on customer service due to poor usability and user experience with this plugin.

Your plugin looks very polished from the outside, but on the inside:

-there are many user settings that are not intuitive or layed out properly
-basic settings that should be toggles or choices in the administration require too much back end change or coding knowledge
-your shortcode placement is entirely too restrictive
-What is included in messages and PDF’s need to be far easier to toggle on or off

I will continue to use this plugin because it has potential, but I feel you may want to consult with a strong usability and user experience consultant.

Thanks for the feedback.

Several of your concerns are already addressed in upcoming versions of Event Espresso.

Hi,

When we shared feedback on your question last year, copying over the templates for editing was the recommended way to edit the templates for the Invoice or Receipt.

That has changed as Event Espresso 4 now has an editor to edit those templates through the WP dashboard.

It can be found in Event Espresso –> Messages. You’ll now be viewing the Messages Overview screen. Now look for Invoice or Receipt and click on Purchaser. Here is an example of how they appear on the Messages Overview Screen:

If you do not see them, then you may be using an old version of Event Espresso 4 or they may be on page 2 so you can paginate (browse) to page 2 and they should be there.

Here is a change log for Event Espresso 4:

If you have any new questions about the using the messages system, then please create a new support post in our support forums:
