We are wanting to duplicate events to save us some time, however when we do so the Unique Event Identifier is blank and wont regenerate or let us add it manually.

Will this cause any issues down the track?

If so how can we fix this so it is not blank.

Thanks

Hi,

It could well cause problems to not have that ID. I just ran a test with that EE and WP and the duplicated events had new id’s.

Does the original event have an unique identifier?

Can you temporarily disable other plugins to see if they are affecting it?

Hi,

Yes sorry your right there was not a unique identifier to start, we tried to import some events and these came through blank which we then duplicated, obviously causing an issue.

But if we duplicate an event with a unique identifier the new unique identifier is assigned and we cant change it.

So for example we have sporting events so the first event is called A vs B but when we duplicate to rename to C vs D the identifier is still referencing a-vs-b-19820398123.

Firstly is there a way for us to change it or regenerate it using the new name?

or if not is this unique identifier used anywhere where people will see it and cause confusion?

If not possible we will just have to add them each individually.

Thanks

Hi,

Unfortunately there isn’t a way to edit it or force the duplicate to have a particular format. The plugin uses the event name to partially generate the ID, so as it duplicates an event it uses the original. I suppose you could change the name, duplicate and change the original back but I think it may end up being a lot of work for little reward.

Fortunately your users should never see this as it is used internally by the plugin and in the admin.
