Disable venues in EE4

Hi, and thanks for a great plugin.

I’m wondering if it’s possible do disable the venue manager in EE4? In EE3, each event would allow me to enter the address of that event on the event registration page. Now, the process is far more complicated, because I have to stop by the venue manager first. Very few of the events are held at the same places, so the venue manager is really only making EE harder to use.

So, is there any way to disable the venue manager, and have the event registration page display the venue fields as in EE3?

Nevermind, I figured it out:

Removing the folder /wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/caffeinated/admin/new/venues did the trick.

I still wonder, however, if this folder will reappear in future upgrades?

Hi,

Yes that folder will re-appear in future upgrades. Generally we don’t recommend deleting or modifying core files like that as it can have unexpected outcomes.

EE4 uses the venue manager to create venues rather than having fields in the event editor, there is no way around that currently. You could perhaps use a plugin such as Advanced Custom Fields which will create meta data that can then be shown by modifying the template files.
