I’m currently using EE4 version 4.9.18 on my wordpress 4.6.1 install. After updating to the most recent version of EE4 I’ve been trying to register people for a class from the back end of the site. I’ve used this method many times in the past without issue. Today, I’m getting an error “Direct access to the registration checkout page is not allowed” and I’m unable to complete the registration process.
Are there any suggestions on what would cause this? Is there a know solution or work around?

Yes the solution is you update to version 4.9.19.p, because there was a new security feature added in 4.9.18.p that added a bug along with itself. If you’re not seeing a notice to update to that version on your WordPress > Plugins page, you can go to Event Espresso > General Settings then save the settings page there, then go to the Plugins page again and there will be an update notification.

I’ve upgraded to 4.9.19p and we’re still getting the error “An error has occurred: Direct access to the registration checkout page is not allowed.” So apparently the bug has not been wiped out. What should we do?

No one can register now! This is serious. Where can we donwload ‘old’ versions…. I want to replace the 4.9.19p with the earlier verison that was NOT generating this error.

I checked your site and I can register there, can you post a link to the page on your site where it doesn’t allow registration?

Hmm. Seems to be working now again. Could there be a cache related issue? Or such? We had cleared the site cache and our browser cache and were still getting their no direct access issue. But now it seems to be working. We will monitor it.

It could be an issue where there’s a bot that’s trying to submit the form to start an event registration, and they were prevented from doing so by the code that ultimately displays that “Direct Access” message. So then what could have happened is the message displays on the next page load (and if that’s the case then this should be fixed in the next update).

THIS IS STILL BROKEN! JUST HAD SOMEONE TRY TO REGISTER AND IT FAILED…

FYI, not sure if the payment option is working. I got a error message when trying to sign up. Something about “direct access is not permitted”
Plus simply accessing the pages is throwing the direct access error…
