Data export (excel, csv) results in some data in incorrect columns

The problem that I’m running into is that when I export an event’s data, some question answers are in the wrong columns. (As an example, the telephone number data is showing up under the Address header column.)

When I click to open the file, MS Excel gives me the following error:
The file you are trying to open is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?

Does anyone have any advice on how to correct this issue?

Hi,

The opening error always comes up, this is due to the fact the spreadsheet was not created in Excel. It has no bearing on the content though.

I can’t see any issues with custom questions on the test exports I did. Can you send us a copy of the exported spreadsheet to support@eventespresso.com – Please include a link to this forum thread in the email.

Thanks for the download Anne, I can see the issue but I am still unable to create this locally.

Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this directly on your site?

If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

NOTE: login details need to be Admin level and FTP details are appreciated.

Thanks for the login details.

I took a look and nothing looks out of place but the spreadsheet is definitely not right.

It makes it harder to decipher when there are so many questions and not all are answered.

There’s a couple of ways we could try and test it:

Require all questions

Create an event with fewer questions to see if the issue persists.

Obviously I am aware that this is sign up season so this may not be possible right now. Without being able to test though it means we wont be able to pin down the issue, especially with us not being able to recreate this on our test servers.
