Hi there,
I need to create some custom question and answers for certain receipt messages. For example, for my sewing course, I’d like to ask ‘Do you hve your own sewing machine or would you like to borrow pne of ours?’. I can see the shortcodes but these don’t relate to the questions I want to ask. I don’t know where and how to create the questions and how to associate them with the custom message template I have.

In step 6, you can add the answer shortcodes to the Event_List area like this:

It needs an exact match so be sure to copy and paste it carefully:
[PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*Do you have your own sewing machine or would you like to borrow one of ours?]
You could do that for additional custom questions:
[PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*Another custom question]

Hi Lorenzo,
Thanks again for another speedy answer! I had read that documentation bit i didnt understand how to actually set the questions though the rest of your answer helped clarify. However i have two further questions…1) do i need to add a shortcode to give them answer options? And if so how do i do this please? 2) I just added the code you sent me to the event list area and couldnt get it to show in the preview. What am i doing wrong?

Hi Kate,
You’ll need to specify the answers that should be shown in the custom receipt template by using a shortcode like this:
[PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*Do you have your own sewing machine or would you like to borrow one of ours?]
The preview option won’t fill anything in there as it won’t have sample data for your custom question. Try adding a new registration after adding all shortcodes and then saving.
Then you should see them appear. If some appear but others do not, then double-check that you are using the exact phrase for the questions.

So just to clarify i use the shortcode [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*] for both the question and the answer options in the message. Is that right?

Hi Kate,
[PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*] can be used to show answers to specific questions.
If you would like to show the question itself, then you would need to manually enter that. Here is an example of a question and answer combination using your earlier example:
Do you have your own sewing machine or would you like to borrow one of ours? [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*Do you have your own sewing machine or would you like to borrow one of ours?]
The above would likely show like this:
Do you have your own sewing machine or would you like to borrow one of ours? Yes
