When I attempt to make a new Custom Batch Template, I click Custom Message and it loads a White page. If I look under custom templates, I see a new one was created, but when I try to edit that one, it also brings up a white page.

Hi Dan,

Does the white page (which indicates there’s an error) happen if you try in another browser or after you clear your current browser’s cache?

Can you check the PHP error log on the server to see if any PHP Fatal Errors were thrown at that moment?

The page is not completely white. Just the content where the custom message should appear. See Screenshot.

The error I am getting is my logs is …

GET /wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_messages&id=70&context=attendee&action=edit_message_template&_wpnonce=0d2b4d2d85&edit_message_template_nonce=0d2b4d2d85 HTTP/1.1

That’s not an error, that’s an access log entry. Have you tried checking for a plugin conflict?

Dan Gall

All plugins were removed and still the same problem.

Can you check the PHP error logs (not the access logs) for errors?

Josh,

I took a look and no errors appear in the error logs. I had Rackspace do the same and they confirmed that no php errors were there.

If you turn on WP_DEBUG, do any errors display on that white screen?

No. No errors.

Can you check the browser console for JavaScript errors? One possibility is a plugin or another script loading from the theme is conflicting on that page and preventing other necessary scripts from loading there.

Nothing. Would it be easier for you to log in and check? I did remove all plugins and that didn’t do anything. I should mention that It did work in the past. I did try running it in PHP7 as well. I’m wondering if something may have happened with the custom changes you guys did for when the attendee check in was not working. Just throwing out ideas.

What got changed when the attendee check in wasn’t working? You can complete the form on this page and someone will take a look.

I’m not aware of any custom work done to your site that was done by us. Are you sure that happened?

Dan Gall

Is it naturally in your nature to be rude? Yes I am sure that happened. Is there another josh that posted … https://eventespresso.com/topic/attendee-check-in-filter-event-checkin-filter-event-checkin-time-not-in-sync/

“So the reason for the WSOD was your server runs PHP 5.4. The developer that looked into this put a patch on your copy of Event Espresso 4, and we’ll include that patch in the next update.”

Hey Dan I’m trying to help you, and part of helping will include asking questions when it’s not clear what you’re trying to communicate.

So the patch that I mentioned in that other topic wasn’t anything custom or unique for just your site. It’s actually something that was included in that next update.

Thanks Josh, I do understand that it’s hard to communicate a lot of issues at times in a message. I’m sorry that I’m a little on edge. This seems to be the last hurdle and our clients are breathing down our backs. The good news is that we see the light at the end of the tunnel.

One thing that may help is you should update to the current version of EE4. There have been a few updates since 4.9.17.

Dan Gall

Weird, It never showed under plugins that there was a new version. But I remember now that I had a version from Github installed. The newest version is now up and running but I still have the problem.

Hey Dan,

Has anything else other than what’s noted here been honey-badgered in the core EE plugin?

Dan Gall

November 18, 2016 at 1:27 pm

Nothing other than that which are the following files …

event-espresso-core-reg/modules/single_page_checkout/reg_steps/payment_options/payment_options_main.template.php

event-espresso-core-reg/modules/single_page_checkout/reg_steps/attendee_information/attendee_info_main.template.php

event-espresso-core-reg/widgets/upcoming_events/EEW_Upcoming_Events.widget.php

I did revert those back originally to the original versions and even changed the theme to 2016 and both did nothing.

Here’s a screenshot of what I’m seeing when I view the source of the page for editing the Default Batch Message template:

https://www.evernote.com/shard/s4/sh/a9c5a565-e32d-49c5-aa0e-64a60b77475c/4c059daeb9f19c8fcdcd422d5a9f21a8

It looks like the request gets killed right after the Visual Composer plugin injects its license activation notice. Why that’s happening only on the Batch Messages editor page, I do not know.

Dan Gall

November 18, 2016 at 2:00 pm

I noticed that too. When i remove the visual composer plugin it stops without the notice. See Screenshot

And to add to my message above … It seems to create a untitled batch message when you go into custom, but when you try to edit it… it also come up the same way.

It does create a new untitled custom message template every time you click on the Create new button. I went through and deleted all of those blank custom newsletter template and it’s working now. Their group ID’s were 59 and 62-77. It seems that the one with Group ID 59 had some malformed/missing data in it.

Thanks Josh, Much appreciated. I think we are all good now 🙂

Nothing left on the clients list of things that needed to be looked at.
