Conflicts with Woocommerce & flexibility

I’ve read the support posts that indicate that this plugin isn’t currently integrated with Woocommerce. That’s ok, but would be nice to have in the works. What I am wondering, however, is are there any conflicts with Woocommerce that would cause problems with either Woo or Expresso? I’m running WP/Woo current versions at http://www.ttinvent.com.

We will be running a series of classes this summer in different locations, with early bird, regular, and on-site prices. Each class will have two categories of students (A and B) with a different price, and add-on options (lunch and continuing ed units). It sounds like Expresso is flexible enough to manage this easily. Is that correct? Is it fairly intuitive to use or is there a bit of a learning curve? We’d like to get the registrations up this week if possible.

Hi Debby,

You are right that there is no integration between EE and Woocommerce. We are only aware of one conflict currently and that is when using the Roles and Permissions plugin/s, the core EE plugin has no known conflicts with Woocommerce.

It sounds like Expresso is flexible enough to manage this easily. Is that correct?

For the most part yes. We do not have a built in system to handle add on options (lunch etc), but we have a beta addon called Price Modifier that uses questions to achieve this functionality.

Is it fairly intuitive to use or is there a bit of a learning curve?

As with any large plugin there is a learning curve, but adding basic events is quite intuitive as it is similar to adding a WordPress post, just with more bells and whistles.

Thank you. I ran the compatibility plugin and everything passed except the recommended apache modules and apache security. My web host is getting those installed for me. Should I wait until that is done to try the lite version? Or can I go ahead and get started? I’m not sure how mission critical those are.

I assume that I can easily upgrade from the lite to the paid version?

Upgrading from lite to the premium version can be done through the WordPress admin. You would deactivate and remove the lite version and then install the premium version and activate it.

I did the test drive and am also comparing Event Manager. So far, I love EE. There are only a couple of things I like better in EM that I can’t seem to figure out how to do here:

Set pricing by date/type. There are educators and students registering. Each will have three different pricing tiers (early bird, regular, and on-site. In EM I can set the date range on each ticket type and have it open/close automatically on those dates. How would I do this in EE?Or do I have to go in on the necessary date and make the changes manually? I did see the “Event Promotions” block, but that seems a bit limited for what I need to do.
Registration Forms – If I have multiple options for each event all listed on one page, the custom registration questions pop up for each item. For example, if someone picked 2 teacher, 2 student, and 4 lunches, they’d have 8 custom forms to fill out. Is there a way to designate the the custom questions only apply to certain price options?
Can you set a “bundle” price? For example – supposed we want to give a discount if 1 teacher registers with 3 students. Is there an easy way to do that?

I know this is a lot to ask, but I’m down to the deciding point, and these items are the hangup. If the core program has a way to do this, or if there is a plugin that can handle it, EE wins by a long shot. If not, I might have to get creative.

I’ll try to answer each of your questions below:

While Event Espresso 3 only has early pricing where you can set a discount to automatically expire on a specific date, Event Espresso 4 gives you the option to set specific go on sale and go off sale dates for each ticket.

Not currently. The only way right now to designate specific custom questions is per event.

This is also a feature that Event Espresso core lacks. There is a volume discount add-on, but it doesn’t make for the easiest checkout. Some folks have used it to give package discounts, but the main drawback is all the registrations need to go through Event Espresso 3’s Multi Event Registration cart, which is less than ideal when you’re trying to do a registration for a single event.
