Hi,

since a couple of days, the admin of our website is no longer receiving email confirmations whenever a booking is made. We haven’t make any change to the website compared to when we were receiving them.

We are running EE3.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

Can you check that normal emails can go out from your site please? You can do this by using a plugin such as Check Email – https://wordpress.org/plugins/check-email/

Also it may be worth checking the EE settings. For instance if the attendees have not paid and the option “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?” is set to No, then the admin wont receive an email until payment is made.

Hi,

I’ve checked using the plugin and email are going out from the website.

In addition, the other option has always been set as Yes because we don’t take payment through the website so the confirmation has to go out immediately.

Thanks for that.

Have you checked that the admin email is correct and that the emails have not landed in the spam folder?

Hi,

the email is correct (it never changed compared to when we were receiving the emails) and no, nothing is “trapped” in any spam filters!

Hi John,

I just placed a registration onto the event with id 566.

I’ve had no registration confirmation email, can you double check that setting is set to Yes please.

When all of the registration emails just randomly stop working it is usually due to a change in the server configuration or a plugin conflict. Have you installed/updated any plugins recently?

If not I would recommend signing up to a service such as Mandrill and use them to send your ‘transactional’ emails. You do this using the wpMandril plugin and it is free for up to 12k emails per month.

More information can be found here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/

The site is currently running EE3.1.34 which was released over 12 months ago, I would recommend creating a full site backup of both the sites files and database (we have a guide HERE) and updating to both the latest version of Event Espresso (the latest EE3 is 3.1.36.6) and WordPress.

Hi,

we haven’t changed anything compared to when the system was still working, it literally stopped from night to day (so I would rule out the plugin conflict scenario). I’m still waiting for an answer from our hosting company to see if they’ve changed something but in the meantime I was evaluating all the possibilities.

I know we are running an old version and the update is planned (but because there’s lots of custom development on top of it, it’s not a very straight forward process)

Hi John,

I would go ahead and setup Mandrill which has a free tier. This will protect you from unexpected changes from the web hosts on email delivery:
