we are running EE3. in the past, when an event was over and changed to closed, it was removed from the active/ongoing list.

now the event stays there until i mark it “inactive”.

when i go to search for an old event once i mark it inactive, i cannot find it anywhere.

how can i get the events to just move from the active/ongoing list automatically like they did in the past? i don’t want to have to manually mark each event as inactive and then lose it in the list.

Hi Krista,

Can you go in to edit the event and check the Registration End field to see if has a date in the future or a date in the past?

the registration end dates are all in the past.

How about the start and end dates?

Also in the past

Normally those should automatically appear in the list then. There may be a customization or something else amiss on your site that’s affecting the list.

Can you complete the form on this secure page so we can investigate further?

OK so here’s what’s happened. The event start and end dates are in an invalid date format so when the functions in Event Espresso filter the event list to show only open events, the function is not recognizing the dates in some of the events. For example, the Construction Accounting – 4/18/17 had this for the Start and end date:

2017-4-18

The format that Event Espresso 3 expects months with 2 digits like so:

2017-04-18

So these closed events can be fixed by going in and editing them, then click on the field, then make sure they have a 2-digit month format. Then you click on Update Event.

ah ok thank you so much!

how do I search the “inactive” events I closed manually? those do not show up on any of the filters. is there a way I can pull them up so I can change them back?

May I ask exactly how did you close those?

Those will show in the list as “NOT_ACTIVE” if you use the Retrieve All the rows from the Database at a time option, and set the status filter to All.
