Changing who a "member" is for membership pricing

I like the fact that we can offer two sets of pricing to our visitors, 1 set for members and one set for nonmembers. The problem I am having is that I have integrated s2member. Users can sign up for an account on my site for free however they still have to pay the posted class price. I do however have a monthly membership fee that my customers can pay through s2member which will entitle them to get free access to classes for their paid period. So what I need to do is change how the system defines who a “member” is as currently the system thinks my free users are members and is offering them the free classes. When really users with paid s2member roles should be the ones considered “members” so when I set a special member price only my paid accounts should see that price, not my free accounts how can I go about doing this.

Hi Sev,

We have a small addon plugin that can help called the Event Espresso s2member and it is available from the Pre Release channel in your account (beta plugin).

This will allow you to set the level where membership discounts kick in, so if you have level 0 free members and level 1 paid members, setting the option to level one will mean level 0 members will still see the non member pricing.

Awesome my other question with this is how would it work if my paid members wanted to bring a guest. Currently guests are not included “Free” with paid memberships. So I would like to set the first user free and the next user at a fee. Would the only way to do this be adding two price options for members one called member for free and one called guest for a fee?

Hi Sev,

Yeah that would probably be the only way I can see it happening, as the system is quite arbitrary – you’re logged in or not so price change occurs or not.

Whenever I add a second member price and his save it just refreshes and deletes the second price, is there a reason why is is not staying?

Yes, sorry, I just realised that may not work exactly as needed. Basically, the member price needs to have a non member price (so 2 non member prices and 2 member prices is good, 1 non member price and 2 member prices wont work). So the non member options would need a you+guest option as well.
