Customers are complaining about getting a message that there are no items in their cart when they go to the registration page. This is after they click “add to cart” and message states that item has been added to the cart. We cannot recreate the problem on either PC or phone. We are losing customers. HELP!

Hi there,

Server-side caching is enabled on your site and it’s forcing the EE4 critical pages to be cached (you can’t cache e-Commerce requests such as Event Espresso).

May I ask who your host is, please?

I’m using WordPress.

As a host? Your site doesn’t look like it’s hosted by WordPress, but I assume you mean you are using WordPress as the content management system.

It looks like your site is hosted with GoDaddy, do you have the account details for them? (I don’t need them, I’m just checking if you have an account with them)

My apologies. Yes, I have a GoDaddy account.

Ok, do you know the type of package you have with GoDaddy?

Generally when we see this it’s is because you are using their ‘Managed WordPress Hosting’ package which as mentioned above forces caching on every page.

I’m guessing the reason you can’t reproduce the problem is that you are logged into the site (logged in users do NOT get served cached responses so it works when logged in). If I visit your site and try to register I get the same issue.

You’ll need to contact GoDaddy support for this and have them disable caching on at least EE’s critical pages, I don’t know if they have an option for this within your control panel with them but the should be able to do it on their end.

The default pages for EE that need to be excluded are:

/events/
/registration-checkout/
/transactions/
/thank-you/
/registration-cancelled/

See: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setup-nocache-exclusion-rules-event-espresso/

Yes, I have Managed WordPress Hosting. I’ll contact GoDaddy as you recommended and hopefully they’ll be able to resolve the issue. I’ll let you know what happens. Thanks Tony.
