Can I Move the Body of an Event Above the Ticket Selector?

Is there a way in which I can move an event flier to the top of a page, such as in the featured image, so that it shows up above the ticket selection? I’ve tried using featured image but featured image cuts off a portion of the flier. Plus, we really don’t want the flier to show up twice in an event page, and the flier seems to be required in the body of the post for it to show up in the calendar (e.g. when the cursor hovers over the flag in the calendar). Following is a link to an example of an event where we’d like the flier to show above the tickets. http://www.futuretaxleaders.com/events/ftl-denver-table-dhote/

Also, on a different note, is there a way to limit what information is included in the calendar from a post (e.g. when hovering over an event flag in a calendar)?

Thank you!

Hi Melissa,

The main way to do what your asking would be to change how the template tags (information blocks in an event) are ordered.

This code snippet can move the ticket selector below the description: https://gist.github.com/joshfeck/1151c89082ccb5c0b478

That code should be added to a site specific plugin: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/create-site-specific-plugin-wordpress-site/

Regarding the calendar, one option would be to add a <--more--> tag into the event description. Anything after that tag will not be shown on the calendar.

Thank you. Sadly, this is way over my head. Is EE working on a way to give people more control over where things show on their page without having to have programming experience?

Also, I’ve tried the “more” tag option before but it then prevents images from displaying in the calendar.

Hi Melissa,

I combined the two things for you, download it from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o6q8g5v5nmqibw6/body-description-swap.zip?dl=0 (future readers, this may not always be accessible).

It’s a plugin so install it like normal and it will swap the description and ticket selector around.

We have no plans currently to enable easier swapping of template sections, but once the work on the addons are done, we will start looking at features and improvements like that.

Regarding the more tag, it does seem to do that yes, not sure if that’s a bug or not, so I’ll raise a ticket to look into it. However the more tag is the only way to reduce the content amount in the calendar tooltips.

Hello again Melissa,

As of Event Espresso 4.8.21, there is a custom display re-order option available in the WordPress dashboard.

Backup your WordPress and update your software

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-back-up-your-site/

You can see the change log for Event Espresso 4 here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-changelog/

Remove existing filters for adjusting the order

If you have used some of the suggested filters to adjust the order of your event elements, then you’ll want to first remove those from your website and they may have been added to your child theme’s functions.php file or a site specific plugin.

Set a custom order through the Templates screen

Afterwards, go to your WP dashboard (WP-admin) –> Event Espresso –> Events –> Templates. The Use Custom Display Order options in the Templates screen can be used to reorder the events elements on the single event page as well as the events listing page.

Again, be sure that any of the filters for adjusting the order have been removed from your site specific plugin or your child theme’s functions.php file before turning on the template reorder option. Otherwise, you may see duplicate content.

Thanks

Lorenzo
