How can I keep my past calendar events on the calendar. They disappear once they are over. |
Hi Lisa, You just need to set the show_expired attribute to true on the calendar shortcode. So for example: [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR show_expired=”true”] We have a full list of available shortcodes & attributes for the Calendar available here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/shortcodes-template-variables/#calendar Hope that helps. |
Not only did that not work, I have now lost all of our events…HELP!!! |
Hi Lisa, Could you tell us the steps that you went through to update the shortcode for the Calendar? Also could you share a link to your calendar page? — |
So on the Upcoming Events pages – I was told to add this shortcode [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=”your_category_identifier” show_expired=”true”] instead of [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=”your_category_identifier”] because our events were disappearing after they were over. However when I did this – now none of our events are on the calendar and we can’t add any. When I tried to put the old [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=”your_category_identifier”] back in – it still does not work. |

Hello, That should not have removed any events since its simply retrieving the existing information. Are you running any caching services? Could you temporarily deactivate Event Espresso & related plugins and then reactivate them? — |
I can look into that but need to make sure that I will not loose all of our current event information in there. If it will not erase the event information — how do I deactivate and reactivate? |
This can be done through WordPress admin –> Plugins. Be sure that you select the “deactivate” option and not the delete option. This will turn the plugin off and then you can reactivate them. |
No — deactivating and reactivating did not work. I want to confirm that this is what should be on that page: |
Hi Lisa, Is that the exact shortcode that you’re using? [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=”your_category_identifier” show_expired=”true”] your_category_identifier should be updated for your actual category. For example if your category identifier was 123_test, then the shortcode would be: [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=”123_test” show_expired=”true”] You can find the identifier by going to the categories page in Event Espresso. —
So on my categories page — I have 9 categories — each has a different code. How do I know what the full code for all of these would be? |
You would like to show all events in categories? In that case, you can just use this: [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR show_expired=”true”] If you want to show events from a specific category, then you would use something like this where 123_test is swapped with the id for your own category: [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=”123_test” show_expired=”true”] Does this help? — |
Strange — that is the first thing I did which made the events go away. However somehow today doing that again made the events all come back. Thanks!!! |
Glad to hear its working again. Have a great weekend! — |
