Hello, we’ve installed activated and configured the automated email reminders pre-release plugin. However, they aren’t sending. What are some settings / options I should double check to troubleshoot? Does generate and send all messages in message setting matter? (on same request or on a seperate request) |

Hi, May I ask did you follow the set up guide? https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-upcoming-event-reminder-add-on/ |
Hi Josh, yes we did, the only area we did not was in the scheduling settings. After we set the number for 1 day, there was no drop down below that option. On the link you provided there should’ve been a drop down for “Scheduling for this template is on”. We did however make sure the activated bar was clicked at the top of the template page. |
One thing to be aware of is the scheduling settings work on a 3 hour cron, so the email could go out anywhere within a +-3 hour range of 1 day before the event when that’s set to 1. If you view the Event Espresso > Messages Activity page are there any emails of the Upcoming event type logged there? |

Hi Josh, |
May I ask did the site in question ever have earlier versions of the Automated Upcoming Event Notification add-on or has it only had the current version of the beta? |
It has only ever had the current version |
Do the other types of emails send? (e.g. Registration Approved and/or Payment Received) |
Yes all of the other emails send just fine, the automated emails are the only ones not initiating? |
Thank you for confirming. One thing to bear in mind is the Automated Email Reminders add-on is currently beta software that has not been officially released, so we expect there to still be bugs. Maybe what you could do is head over to your site’s Event Espresso > Maintenance > System Information page, then hit the “Download to File” button. Then you can attach that to an email and send to the support email address. |

Alright Josh, the email has been sent. |
Thanks for sending. One thing to check would be if scheduled tasks are working on that site. A quick way to check is install the Health Check plugin then go to Dashboard > Health Check. On that page is a table and it will have a “Scheduled events” row which will have a status message for scheduled events. |

Hi Josh, |
The loopback requests line in debug says Thoughts? |
Thanks for checking. The solution outlined here is probably the solution to this, since the loopback request is resulting in a 401 error. If changing to use the Alternative wp-cron doesn’t help then you could contact your webhost and ask them if the server can be updated to allow for loopbacks for wp-cron. The Automated Email reminders plugin uses that same wp-cron scheduler that failed the check outlined by the Health Check plugin. |
